In the fall season

In the fall of the year we have start getting our poles and tackle stored for the winter this is the time when we need to remember how important it is to maintain all of it we have all winter to get our line changed and our reels cleaned and lubed just like any other mechanical item it requires lubrication .We need to recheck pole eyes making sure they are all still good to do this I like to use a cotton ball just put it against the eye and gently rotate and then pull it away slowly if it pulls the cotton the eye could fray your line also look at each one and make sure that there are no groves cut into them since most eyes are ceramic there aren't as many problems as there used to be although you can replace them.make sure that you clean the poles this may not make them fish any better but it does make them look better. This brings up the next issue what to do with your poles while not in use alot of us that fish , hunt in the winter and fish in the rest of the year. I always used to like to see a room like a hunting lodge they always have a warmth to them but times are not like they used to be when we could hang our guns on the wall to show them off now we have to have a safe to lock them into and keep our kids out and theifs abay , but our fishing poles can still be displayed on the wall or in racks that can roll you can get fishing pole racks in a rustic look or modern that will match almost any room and so far i haven't heard of any one holding up the neighborhood store with a stolen fishing pole but the way the world is nothing would surprise me ,but as for now we can proudly display our poles in a nice fishing pole rack and keep them up where they are safe for the winter and ready to go this spring .

Early Fall Fishing

Some of or best fishing of the year is in the fall when our weather cooperates and the wind is right our fish don't bite well when the wind is out of the north and the water can be bad rough it just makes for a day they ain't so great but when all is right the fish bite and you can catch limit of crappie and the bass will still get after it and fight like it was still summer our water is warm for a while and gets to be just right for a good time. very cold water is not good for a lot of species of fish they don't eat for long periods because they just don't metabolize food like they do in warm weather all things slow down in cold water here.I found that in cold water here if the water color is a little mud colored you can run a bright ( I prefer a white one) colored jig and with some very hard work actually convince a bass to bite here and there ,make sure to run jig slower than you would in summer fish respond slower in cold water.

Labor Day

Finally it has come labor day here in our area is a great Holiday it marks the end of the boating season from memorial day to labor day each year we have lots of out of town people here boating fishing and any other water sport you can imagine ,some of these people come from communities around close and some come from farther off they are all welcome and our small community appreciates there business but it is nice to get back to mostly the local fisherman and calmer water even though the Tn. river her is close to 1/2 mile wide in places and 50ft deep in most places it can get small for fisherman in the middle of summer with the jetski'ers and pleasure boaters along with normal barge traffic so it is nice to fish in the early fall our temps. start dropping and the fish start biting it can be really peaceful fishing ,after all it not all about just catching fish it is the experience of each fishing trip you take and the destressing that we get.
Our web site is running a labor day sale on three of our more popular rod racks for the week of labor day drop by our site and look us over and take advantage of the great savings on these.http://www.fishingpoleracks.com/category/106
